LifeStyle Mix. October.

LifeStyle Mix October_1

October in Oslo feels very much like the late fall, even more so in comparison with sunny Spain, where I spent a week in the beginning of the month. With colder days and darkness creeping in, life becomes more indoors centered, accompanied by cosy knits, hot tea, soft bed-linens and  inspirational books.

This months I am under the influence of recently read “The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying” by Marie Kondo and fantastic, eye-opening and so inspiring blog Into Mind ( As a result, I continue with my quest for the perfect wardrobe and overall “less is more” approach to life. This becomes addictive, as now I became convinced that all daily used items should be those I really like and feel good about. Not only clothes and accessorizes, but all you surround yourself with should bring joy to your life, from a coffee cup, through bedside lamp to blankets. Easier said than done? Perhaps, but I feel motivated to try without spending a fortune. To begin with I decide what to keep and what to give away, what needs a replacement and what creates nothing but a background noise. Autumn feels like a perfect time to continue with those improvements and share some of my observations, more on the subject in November.

No More Fast Fashion.

Fast Fashion

If you follow my blog posts, you might remember my June quest on investigating the cheap & chic fashion concept. We didn’t have much of a summer this year, but sufficient to say, no garments that entered the competition made it till fall if they were worn frequently. The quality, fabrics or finishing were so poor that after few washings cheap & chic pieces looked so bad I did not feel like wearing them ever again.

The timing is quite remarkable, because when starting my little experiment I did not know about the philosophy of the essential, “slow” fashion. In August I came across some inspirational blogs and articles that made me feel even stronger about the notion of buying less, but better and wiser. And so I continue to challenge myself, saying no to fast fashion, questioning my urges to buy, cultivating awareness, mindfulness and moderation. I do not want to make it sound too superficial, plus I still happen to make a detour from my path (quality I practice, with impulse purchases I fail…), but living a life with less is really much better from getting lost in a senseless maximalism and greedy “to-have-it-all”-ism. Do try, for you may appreciate a change in your mindset. Dare yourself, it might be just the thing.

Costa Dorada Travel Diary.

The first thing that comes to my mind when I think of Costa Dorada are colors. Blue, the most wonderful Mediterranean blue that one can hardly believe in. Green, a palm tree green, contrasting with a turquoise sea and a sapphire sky. Colors are marvelous, remarkable, truly overwhelming. I can hardly find words to express it, so I better rely on pictures to convey the beauty of the region and the stunning scenery that I was so lucky to see.

Barcelona Travel Diary.

Barcelona Travel Diary_5

It is easy to fall for Barcelona, as the city is simply wonderful – charming, friendly, well organized and full of stunning sights. This was my first stay and I have an impression there are more to come in the future. I did not know what to expect from Barcelona and I tried to keep an open mind. I was pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere, safety, cleanliness and general vibe… so yes, I will come back for sure.

We stayed at the Eixample district, which is within walking distance from most key POIs in Barcelona. Walking is what we like and what we did, many kilometers during the whole stay! It was a real pleasure to explore the place on foot, discovering new streets, marveling on architecture, snapping pictures, taking occasional stops for coffee or wine, enjoying local food depending on mood and hour… Most visits requiring tickets I booked beforehand (La Pedrera, Park Guell, La Sagrada Familia), time of the visit is set, so there is less freedom and schedule is more rigid, but so much hassle is avoided and for that reason I do recommend to book in advance wherever possible. I do not show some pictures here, like the interior of La Sagrada Familia, the reason is simple, I do not want to spoil it for anybody who may have a chance to see it in person, the place is so overwhelmingly beautiful and so special that the best impression is gained first-hand. Before departure for Spain I heard words of warning about pick pockets, nothing happened to us and all valuables came home safely, but we were cautious, so perhaps this is the way to go.

During our stay we managed to see more than Barcelona, thanks to my husband and his extraordinary driving skills we made an amazing tour around Costa Dorado’s charming little towns, but more on it in the next blog post.

Falling for Fall Classics. Emerson Fry.

This post shows total lack of moderation in the number of featured pictures, but in some way I created an inspiration board for myself and for a future reference. I do not remember when so many looks signed by one label felt so “mine”, like this selection from Emerson Fry. And do believe, there are more! If only I could stay away from dress code, this is how my autumn closet would look like. For now, I will use the inspiration for weekends and days off.
